I'm talking about Mushihimesama Maniac mode, auto on of course.
AIVA and consequently DOAONLINE are not updated. Let's clarify who is the player which achieved this unbelievable score and how...
Anyone own the right Arcadia issue? Oxtsu?
I bet the guy had at least 7 buttons. A, B and C plus 2 A+ and 2 C+. _________________ AST-LUN |

| Checked for you. The player's name is HAITENAI (and some other stuff after that), score was 2,693,609,794, with Autofire (they don't tell the specifics), arcade was Goody21, sometime in late October-November 2005 (Arcadia issue is 2/2006, #69). |

He doubled his score
I wonder if there are any other informations about this score. I'll look everywhere... _________________ AST-LUN |

| It's SWY (Yusemi), of Ikaruga Hard Mode WR fame, he just used a goofy name for the high score. He must have found a way to double the peak mid-stage counters in stage 3,4 and 5 (300,000+, 400,000+, and 600,000+, respectively). |

Does anyone know if it's SWY who has the A-EXY record on Dodonpachi DOJ?
I seem to remember seeing it somewhere.. |

WOHA. So it was really SWY. But how do you know that?

Checking again, the name he wrote after HAITENAI on this record was not RECO TAN...it was JURIKIGAMI SAN. Also he wrote "banzai" emoji underneath:

hey there - just some random, semi-coherent blabber here, dont read further unless you're bored, resistance is futile, close your eyes, forza azzurri, etc

well, I guess everyone recalls the ESPgaluda interview w/ TAC in arcadia #48, in that article, the final footnore said Yusemi had the record in "Dodonpachi Dai-ou-jou (Type-A)" -- however, in that very issue, AFAIK KZK submitted a new record (1.685B, ie. 0.002B or 0.1% improvement over the previous score, which, big surprise, was achieved in goody21). KZK got his score before february 19, so, either the old 1.683B score (A-L, april 2003?) was already by SWY, or the arcadia editors already knew about the most recent hiscore (1.92B?, march 04?), and thus included DOJ in the footnote. also, an old entry on DOAonline (the newspage, not the scorepage) credits the 2.0B (may04) score to "Yusemi", so maybe he used a goofy name (Kiss whatever) when submitting to arcadia.
oddly enough, around issue 61/62/63, Yusemi improved the Psyvariar Revision score, and it seems as he used his regular "tag" (see aiva database), so maybe Kiss whatever is someone else after all, dunno. or maybe the "charisma player" of the shooting game world uses funky aliases on CAVE shooters only...
regarding mushi, the strange thing with HAITENAI is that back in early 05, on the 2ch forums, ppl linked to a couple ULTRA movies in zipfiles (stage 1-5 + rasubosu iirc), and the password protecting those zips was indeed "haitenai". btw, in that vid the player entered the initials QED, and according to aiva, someone named QED has a bunch of beatmania hiscores...
anyway, perhaps haitenai translates to "i love your panties", so whatever;
as for the inital question - maybe those sudden jumps in score for both ultra and maniac mode seen some six months ago happened because the two players used a new/different autofire frequency and/or on-off cycle?
you know, instead of using, say
C+ = 10, w/ 111000.. they used
C+ = 12, w/ 1100011000..
(the example is fictitious, but you get the idea) ?
this "theory" is slightly supported by the fact that the NON-Autofire scores were only improved marginally or not at all. then again, what do I know.
...
anyway, for the two of you who are still reading, ive got a kwestion - when was the official end of the mushi score trial, issue 60 or 61? and were there any kind of interviews with any of the winners (i guess not, but hey)?
thx and take it easy (yea I know you're easy) |

Good point. What you say is possible, but we're still looking for some clues, without luck for the moment... _________________ AST-LUN |

Some quick thoughts I’ve had.
On Stage 3 maybe there’s away to keep the middle sections of the tail(?) alive without making the level impossible to chain/increase counters properly.
It should give quite a big score increase, but nothing like what is needed for 2.6billion.
If you don’t power up M-Power, the A+ is almost as good as the C+ with the correct speed setting. On the Stage 2 Scorpion it is possible to get a 200,000+ counter using this method but the next stages might be impossible to chain.
W-Power upgraded by 2 power-ups and used in a similar way to the M-Power method may give a better score than fully upgrading, and still keep the levels possible to chain.
Other than those I can’t think of another way to increase the score.
The PS2 C+ setting of 2 is probably close to optimal (except on St5.), and even if it is possible to fine tune the speed, the counter increase would be small.
Does Arcadia except scores that have been made with a glitch? If so maybe a random glitch happened on the game involving the counters. |
